Your browser, your habitat

Privacy Policy

Particle Life is designed to be explored without creating an account or sending your simulation to us.

Last updated: August 7, 2026

Simulation processing stays on your device

The Particle Life simulation runs locally in your web browser. Particle positions, attraction and repulsion relationships, preset choices, particle counts, pointer movements, and the evolving state of your colony are processed on your device. This simulation data is not uploaded or sent to a Particle Life server.

Personal information

Particle Life does not currently ask you to create an account, provide your name, submit a profile, or enter payment information. We do not intentionally collect, sell, or rent personal information through the simulator. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through any future feedback channel.

Hosting and basic request data

Particle Life is hosted by Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel may process standard request information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser or user-agent details, requested URL, timestamps, and network diagnostics. This infrastructure data is separate from the particle simulation: colony state and simulator interactions remain in your browser and are not included in those requests. Vercel handles hosting data under its own privacy and security terms.

Cookies and advertising

The simulator itself does not need cookies to run. Particle Life may display advertising provided by Google AdSense or other advertising partners. Google and other third-party vendors may place or read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses, device information, and similar identifiers, to deliver, measure, personalize, and protect advertising. Google's use of advertising cookies may allow it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to Particle Life and other websites.

You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services on Google's partner sites information page. You can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Additional opt-out choices may be available through YourAdChoices. Where applicable law requires it, Particle Life will request consent before non-essential advertising technologies are used and will offer controls for personalized or non-personalized ads.

Analytics and service providers

Particle Life may use limited analytics or reliability services to understand aggregate site usage and diagnose technical problems. These providers may process browser type, device information, approximate location derived from an IP address, pages visited, timestamps, referral information, and interactions with the site according to their own privacy terms. We will update this policy when the services used by the site materially change.

In particular, this site uses Microsoft Clarity to record anonymized session replays and generate heatmaps of clicks, scroll position, and page interactions. Clarity may set cookies and collect usage data for measurement purposes; it does not collect your particle simulation data, which stays on your device. See Microsoft's Clarity privacy statement for details.

Children and data security

Particle Life is a general-audience simulation and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal information from children. Because no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, we minimize risk by avoiding accounts and keeping the simulation itself on your device.

Policy changes and questions

We may revise this policy when the website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The date above shows the latest revision. Particle Life does not currently operate a public inbox or collect messages through a contact form. Visit the contact page for the current communication status or return to the Particle Life simulator at any time.
